Bass Lake History

Bass Lake California is a PG&E reservoir in the Central Sierra Nevadas of California. Bass Lake is well know for its temperate climate and recreational opportunities year round. Being a power generating reservoir, the lake levels can change giving Bass Lake an entirely different look and feel depending on the season.

Bass Lake was built beginning at the turn of the 20th Century as the first hydro-electric project in Madera County. Flooding a beatiful meadow mistakenly known as Crane Valley, the lake was completed in 1910.
