Good morning,

By now you have probably heard about the fire at Bass Lake.  It is 20% contained as of this morning.

The fire began at Courtney Lane and Road 426 in Oakhurst and ran up over the ridge at Bass Lake Heights.  21 structures burned, including one of our realty clients’ home and one of our long term rental homes.  The occupants were able to get out safely but lost basically everything.

Slide Creek Estates was on pre-evac alert, and for a time in the early evening the Pines Tract was also on pre-evacuation alert. The fear was that burning embers might travel across the lake and start a new fire.  Fortunately that did not happen.

Helicopters are drawing water from the lake this morning, and a spotter pane is circling.  You can see where the fire burned down to Road 222 between the Forks and Recreation Point. There’s plenty of smoke in the air today.

Currently all homes on the Pines side of the lake are safe, and we expect that to continue.  There’s a light breeze today, but it is not windy at this time.

As we obtain more news we will let you know.

Best regards,

Bass Lake Realty
