In addition to looking for all your wish list items and minimum requirements, a great tool is the HUD Home Scorecard.

Also ask the following questions:

  • Is there enough room? Now? In the future?
  • Enough bedrooms and baths?
  • How is the house structurally? Sound? Seismic considerations?
  • Do all the appliances, heating, air conditioning and mechanical systems work?
  • Is the yard and lot or parcel big enough? Now? Future?
  • Is the floor plan what you want? Need?
  • Will the furniture you plan to use fit in the new house nicely?
  • Is there enough storage space?

Always bring a tape measure to check dimensions and help better answer these questions. Write down your measurements for comparison to your current space or future reference.

  • Are there any repairs or replacements needed?
  • If so, will the seller take care of them?

Always imagine the house in all weather, sunny, hot, cold, rain, snow, all seasons. Will you be happy all seasons?

Take your time and think carefully about each house you see. Keep the scorecard and notes for each one.

Always rely on your Bass Lake Realty agent to help you understand the unique aspects of each home and its relationship to its surroundings!
