From Judy at Yosemite Sierra Visitor’s Bureau:

Roads:  Attached

Weather:  Attached

20% chance of thunderstorms beginning today through Monday

What can I say except “I’m sorry.”

After 10 days of telling folks there’s been no smoke in Yosemite Valley . . . the smoke has arrived. Here’s the link to the High Sierra webcam:  www.yosemiteconservancy.org/webcams/high-sierra

We also have a lot of smoke in the Oakhurst area, and I assume that extends over to North Fork and down to Coarsegold.

Only road closure still is Hwy 120. There is NO access to Highway 395/Lee Vining/Mono Lake/Mammoth Lakes/South Lake Tahoe via Tioga Road. Tioga Road will remain closed through Labor Day at least.

I sent out a map showing alternate routes yesterday. If you need a copy of that, let me know.

All Yosemite Valley facilities, as well as those at Glacier Point, Wawona and Mariposa Grove are open for business as usual. There has been virtually no degradation of air quality except in the immediate area of the fire in the extreme northwest corner of the park (the Big Oak Flat entrance area). Although the fire has consumed some 193,000 acres to this point (8/29), only 45,000 of those are in Yosemite, and virtually all of those are in wilderness area. **Visit the links at the end of this report for extensive information about the fire and about conditions in Yosemite**
